Pik-A-Dilly RV Newsletter – April 2014
Intro/Letter From the Editor – Ryan Main – General Manager
As I check in on the updated weather forecast, it appears as though we’ve finally come to the spring season!! A month or so later than I think most people would have appreciated, but it’s here none the less. With spring means the debut of the new model year of trailers, plus the anticipation of the 2014 camping season. Campgrounds have started to take their bookings for the season and RVers everywhere have slowly started to pick up their new or new to them RV’s purchased over the off-season.
Here at Pik-A-Dilly it seems like the pot is getting ready to boil over….we had a tremendous Annual Show and Sale in our new location at the Keystone Centre at the beginning of February, and have remained busy right through the couple of months that followed (even in the -50 weather!!). With 2015 models ordered and en route to the dealership, your time to buy is now. On the yard inventory arrived at a lower exchange rate than the inventory currently on order, plus with a change in model year comes a change in pricing (and rarely do the manufacturers charge us less). All in-stock inventory is guaranteed ready for pick up in time for the May long weekend. Make your deal today and remember; at Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre, we won’t be undersold!!
If you’re tech savvy, please sign up and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. We will be running exclusive promotions and offering special discounts on there all summer long. Recipe of the Month- Cowboy Spud and Veggie Medley
This months recipe is a delicious little side dish completely customizable with your favourite veggies to compliment any meal! http://spoonful.com/recipes/cowboy-spud-and-veggie-medley
What you’ll need:
1 pound small red-skinned potatoes, scrubbed
4 to 6 cloves garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
Assorted fresh vegetables, such as green beans, broccoli, summer squash, carrots, and cherry tomatoes
Salt and pepper
Chopped fresh basil or pesto
3 to 4 tablespoons butter
1 1/3 to 2 cups chicken broth
How to make it:
For each helping, shape a 16-inch-long piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil into a bowl. Cut the potatoes into bite-size pieces and pile some in the center of each sheet. Add a chopped garlic clove to each pile. Cut or snap the vegetables into bite-size pieces, then add them to the potatoes and sprinkle on salt and pepper.
Add 1 tablespoon of fresh basil or pesto to each packet. Top with a thick pat of butter and pour 1/3 cup of chicken broth over the veggies.
Seal the packets tightly, then place them on the grill over the fire. Check the packets after 10 to 12 minutes, being careful to avoid escaping steam, to see if the vegetables are tender. If not, reseal the packets and heat for another few minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
Our friends and customers not only enjoy their camping experiences but a little fishing now and again. Pictured is long time Pik-A-Dilly customer Les Kretai from Strathclair, MB proudly showing off a 52.5 inch Northern Pike caught last fall at Reed Lake near Flin Flon, MB.
