Pik-A-Dilly Newsletter – January 2014
Intro/Letter From the Editor – Ryan Main – General Manager
Well, would you look at that, we’re just a short few days away from the Pik-A-Dilly Annual Show and Sale. HUGE NEWS surrounding this year’s show as we have moved to a larger location, still in the Keystone Centre. This year you’ll find our show, along with our theme of Bigger Location = Bigger Savings, in the Westoba Agricultural Centre, just North of the Canad Inns Hotel.
We are EXCITED to say the least. Our staff will be welcoming factory representatives from Keystone’s Springdale, Sprinter, Passport, Summerland, and Laredo brands, as well as from Coachmen’s Catalina and our newest debut Heartland’s Prowler. The show will be over 50% bigger than years past, and with that in mind, the savings will be even larger. Get your new unit now, then sit back and relax until camping season!!
Each of the salesmen have provided a small write up on their favourite floor plan that will be featured in this year’s show. As well, there are the articles below that you’ve become accustomed to seeing in our monthly newsletter..
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or newsletter ideas, please email myself at firstname.lastname@example.org or Todd at email@example.com. If you have any show inquiries, be sure to give us a call (204)728-8570, or shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Show time is fast approaching, we have been receiving new RVs almost daily in preparation. With our show being even bigger this year that means we will be able to feature more layouts and I am certain we can find the perfect floor plan for your family. While your options will be vast at the show I have chosen to highlight the 2014 Catalina 293DDS.
The Catalina 293DDS is a great unit for a family of any size, whether you need to sleep three or sleep ten. It has a queen bed in the master bedroom and features two double beds in the back, the larger U-shaped dinette also will make into a bed capable of sleeping two, and then of course there is the hide-a-bed sofa that will also sleep two.
The kitchen features all of the standards you have come to know and love with the double door fridge that can run on either electricity or propane, the three burner stove with oven, 60/40 sink with high-rise faucet for those large pots or water bottles. Two really nice features about this kitchen area are the breakfast bar, it provides extra counter top space, and can be used as an extra seating area or serving area. Secondly, the counter top is what they refer to as a “Thermofoil Countertop” so it is one piece, there is no molding around the edges and still looks nice and clean. Finally this trailer has something that a lot of trailers do not and is really important to a lot of people, a pantry!
On the outside there is an 18 foot awning with outside speakers underneath, there is a huge pass-through storage area that is perfect for lawn chairs, and any toys you would like to bring along. There is also a second door that leads right into the washroom so there is no more need to track through the whole camper just to use the washroom!
This brand new 2014 Catalina 293DDS has a retail price of $32,780 and can be had at the show for only $25,022! I hope you see there!
This is a great couples unit that combines tow-ability and space so it fits for the holiday traveler or the seasonal camper.
Weighing in at only 6460 lbs. it is easily towed by todays ½ ton trucks and SUV’s and at under 30’ it is an easy fit in any campground. In addition, the Power Tongue Jack makes hook-up quick and easy.
For those that like to spend the summer long term camping at a seasonal site the ‘Super Slide Room’ (SSR) gives it the interior space for comfortable living. Add the vaulted ceiling and you have a very spacious feeling trailer.
The front Island Queen bed and bathroom located close to it, makes it ideal for a couple. For the extra guest you have the Tri-Fold Sleeper Sofa and the U-Shaped dinette that holds 6 for eating and 2 for sleeping.
With the all new exterior graphics package and the addition of the Advantage and Adventures Packages, the 2014 Springdale 266RLSSR is one to see.
With a Special Show Price of only $27,345 (Reduced from our regular price of $35,296), it is a value not to be missed.
JP Talbot –
2014 Heartland Prowler P27
I would like to introduce the Prowler P27, a half-ton towable 5th wheel manufactured by Heartland RV. New for us this year, this unit would be great to set up for a weekend or to be parked seasonally for the year.
This floorplan comes equipped with a queen sized master bed, Jack and Jill bunk beds, hide a bed couch and a fold down dinette, so you’ll have more than enough sleeping room for family or friends. Each P27 comes standard with a 13,500 btu AC (15,000 btu optional) with Fast Blast which allows for a quick cool down of your camper on those hot summer days. With Steel ball bearing drawer glides and screwed and glued cabinets, you can be reassured that the quality is built to last. The island kitchen provides additional counter top space and storage. On the outside, you will find 2 outdoor speakers and an electric awning. An added feature is track lighting under the awning, which gives you light under the whole length of the awning.
With our special show pricing of $30,997 we are providing savings of over $12,000 off the P27’s retail price of $43,205. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the show!

Service Department – Heather Arthurson
The service department has been keeping busy with all the insurance work that we have. We also have trailers here that have some warranty issues to get fixed up and we have new trailers coming in almost weekly that we are presently getting ready for our show at the end of the month. The preparation for the show is very time consuming and labour intensive. The weather hasn’t always been kind this winter and has made moving trailers around a lot harder but it still needs to be done. We do hope to see everyone at the show because it is you the customer that makes all the work and effort worth while.
We have some new faces in the service shop so I would like to introduce Derrick Hildebrand. Derrick has joined our team and has been helping out with pre-deliveries and starting to perform customer demonstrations to the customer about their new trailer. Derrick has also been making warranty repairs on our new units as they are delivered to Pik-a-dilly. Derrick fits very well with our team and we are very happy to have him.
Recipe of the Month- Grilled Shrimp Skewers with Garlic, Chili and Parsley
This months recipe features The Food Networks grilled shrimp skewers with garlic, chili and parsley. Can’t wait to pop some of these on the grill this summer!
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 large garlic clove, minced
2 dried Thai chilies, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
3 dozen shrimp or prawns, heads and shells removed, de-veined with their tails on.
1. Whisk together mustard, lemon juice, garlic, chilies, olive oil, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
2. Add shrimp and let marinate for 30 minutes.
3. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them at the same time in water. This will help prevent them from catching on fire when on the grill.
4. Skewer the prawns. For each prawn skewer at the top of tail and through the head.
5. Heat your barbecue to medium high and grease it.
6. Grill each skewer for 90 seconds per side and check that it is cooked through– it will vary based on size of shrimps.
